IDENTIFIED ISSUES

AGRICULTURE

The Republican Party of Namibia recognizes the dire need for reform in our agricultural sector, highlighted by the chronic underperformance and neglect of the Green Scheme projects. These initiatives, such as the Nida and Ndonga Lilena, critical for the regions of Zambezi and Kavango, remain stagnant due to mismanagement and insufficient governmental oversight (Namibia Economist) (The Namibian) (Africa Press Arabic). The failures of entities like AgriBusDev, which led to significant land underutilization and missed agricultural output opportunities, demand urgent and strategic action (Africa Press Arabic). We are committed to redefining the operational frameworks of these schemes, ensuring they are led by competent, transparent, and accountable management. Our policy will focus on local community involvement and substantial investments in agricultural infrastructure to revitalize these projects and harness their full potential for national food security and economic prosperity. The Republican Party of Namibia pledges to transform these challenges into opportunities for growth and self-sufficiency, making the agricultural sector a cornerstone of our national development strategy.

CORRUPTION

The Republican Party of Namibia stands resolute in its commitment to eradicate corruption and restore the dignity of our nation. With Namibia plagued by scandals like Fishrot, which expose the deep-seated graft within our current government, our mission is clear: to establish a transparent, accountable administration that acts in the best interests of all its citizens. We will rigorously enforce the Whistleblower Protection Act and the Access to Information Act, ensuring that every citizen can hold their leaders to account without fear of reprisal. Our pledge is to dismantle the opaque systems that fuel corruption and to implement stringent measures that prevent the misuse of our country’s resources. We vow to redirect these resources towards creating substantial opportunities for education, healthcare, and economic growth, particularly benefiting those who have been most disadvantaged by past governance. By doing so, we aim to not only uplift our communities but also to position Namibia as a beacon of integrity and prosperity on the global stage. The time for change is now, and the Republican Party of Namibia is ready to lead this transformation, forging a future where integrity forms the cornerstone of governance, where we as RP are commited to restoring fairness and directing resources towards growth and development, ensuring a transparent and just political environment by ensuring:

1. The Anti-Corruption Agency (ACC) can operate without interference, with the authority to audit and monitor effectively, staffed by integrity-driven personnel, supported by a judiciary free from corruption.

2. To halt the favoritism that enriches a few at the expense of the many, ensuring that those who abuse their power are held accountable by the people of Namibia.

EDUCATION AND SCHOOLS

The Republican Party of Namibia acknowledges the profound challenges within our educational system and commits to transformative actions that honor our Christian values and meet the practical needs of modern education. With recent expansions including 16 new schools and over 700 teaching positions, we recognize the steps taken but stress the urgent need for deeper reforms (The Namibian). Our strategy focuses on enhancing curriculum with emphasis on science, mathematics, and moral education, driven by Christian principles. We will address the unacceptable disparities between urban and rural schools, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all Namibian children (The Namibian). By elevating the professional status of teachers and revising outdated educational structures, we aim to attract the best talents and adapt learning environments to foster individual growth (The Namibian). The Republican Party stands firm in its commitment to overhaul our education system, making it a model of excellence and a foundation for the future leaders of Namibia.

HEALTHCARE

The Republican Party of Namibia stands committed to addressing the critical shortcomings of our healthcare system, highlighted by a severe lack of public sector doctors, deteriorating hospital infrastructure, and inadequate medical supplies (The Borgen Project) (WHO | Regional Office for Africa) (2024/2025). We pledge to restore the integrity of our healthcare facilities, ensuring that every state hospital and clinic is not only well-maintained but also fully equipped to meet the health needs of all Namibians. Our vision includes reliable stocking of essential medicines in hospital pharmacies and prioritizing the employment and professional development of Namibian nurses to international standards. We are dedicated to subsidizing medical services for the poor, unemployed, and pensioners, guaranteeing that no citizen is denied necessary healthcare. Furthermore, we assert the importance of having medical professionals who are proficient in the national language to enhance communication with patients, ensuring accurate diagnoses and effective treatment. This commitment represents a direct response to the current administration's failure to uphold the health rights of Namibians, and we vow to implement these changes swiftly and efficiently.

JUSTICE & CRIME

The Republican Party of Namibia (RP) recognizes the rising crime rates as a critical threat to public safety, with over 110,000 criminal cases recorded in 2023/2024. From violent crimes like robberies, murder, and rape to challenges in police performance, Namibians are facing an unprecedented crisis. We urgently call for reforms in policing, judicial efficiency, and community-based crime prevention strategies. RP stands committed to advocating for better resource allocation, improved accountability in law enforcement, and expanded access to justice, especially for underprivileged communities. Our vision is to enhance public safety through transparent governance and ensure that all Namibians live in secure, crime-free environments. Let's work together to build a safer, more just Namibia(Observer24)(Namibia Institute for Democracy)(The Namibian).

LAND REFORM

The Republican Party of Namibia firmly supports the urgent need for equitable land reform. We recognize that transforming our land ownership structures is essential not only for correcting historical disparities but also for unlocking the potential of our agricultural sector. Our commitment is to enhance transparency and uphold constitutional principles, ensuring that reforms benefit all Namibians and contribute to national prosperity. We advocate for policies that secure equitable land distribution and foster economic stability through enhanced agricultural productivity. Recognizing the failures of the 'willing buyer, willing seller' principle, we support necessary amendments for more effective land expropriation to accelerate redistribution. Our approach is to include all stakeholders, ensuring that the land reform process is inclusive, fair, and beneficial to the entire nation. Together, we aim to build a future where land reform fosters a prosperous, inclusive Namibia.

NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY

The Republican Party (RP) of Namibia has expressed strong concerns over the implications of the UN's Pact for the Future on national sovereignty. The RP argues that this agreement, signed by President Nangolo Mbumba without public or parliamentary consultation, undermines Namibia’s independence by introducing centralized global governance mechanisms, including biometric digital IDs and AI governance systems, which could infringe upon the rights of Namibian citizens. Henk Mudge, RP’s leader, emphasized that such international agreements risk eroding local control over national affairs, particularly in areas like digital identity management, defence, and free speech. The RP remains committed to ensuring that decisions of this magnitude must involve transparent democratic processes and prioritize Namibia's sovereign rights. We were one of the few parties (if any other) to openly challenge this globalist initiative, calling for greater scrutiny and debate before any binding commitments are made (New Era - Truth for its own sake)(NBC News).

NATURAL RESOURCES

The Republican Party of Namibia is deeply concerned about the exploitation of our natural resources by foreign corporations, which significantly undercuts the benefits to our nation. Such practices exacerbate the already severe disparities in wealth and economic opportunity among Namibians, as a majority of the profits flow out of the country, leaving our communities deprived and our environments at risk (Brookings) (World Resources Institute). We advocate for stringent reforms to ensure transparency and accountability in how these resources are managed and demand that more profits are reinvested locally to support sustainable development (Council on Foreign Relations). The current model of privatization and mismanagement has led to corruption and environmental degradation, failing to convert our natural wealth into real advantages for our people (Oxford Academic). Therefore, the Republican Party of Namibia commits to revising policies to protect our national assets, ensuring that all Namibians benefit equitably from our rich natural resources. Our focus will be on strengthening regulatory frameworks and enhancing community participation in resource governance to guarantee that wealth created from our land truly uplifts the entire population (BTI 2024) (World Resources Institute). By securing the integrity of our resource management, we will foster a prosperous, fair, and sustainable future for all Namibians.

TENDERS IN NAMIBIA

The Republican Party of Namibia expresses grave concerns over the tender processes favoring Chinese firms, compromising both integrity and economic fairness. A notable instance involves a Chinese company securing a N$935 million contract from NamWater, despite higher bid costs than its competitors (The Namibian). Furthermore, the Roads Authority's consistent awarding of contracts to Chinese state-owned enterprises, including a controversial N$475 million road tender awarded without public bidding, underscores a pattern disadvantaging local businesses (The Namibian). We advocate for a reform of the tender process to ensure transparency, competitiveness, and greater inclusion of Namibian companies. Our commitment is to protect Namibia's economic sovereignty and ensure that our citizens benefit first from public contracts. We propose stringent regulations to prevent opaque foreign involvement in our economic sectors, safeguarding our nation's integrity and promoting prosperity for all Namibians.

UNEMPLOYMENT

We will strive to eradicate poverty and address the failure of the SWAPO government to manage the unacceptable and ever-increasing rate of
unemployment among all sections of the population and shall thus apply all our efforts, among other things, to:
1.  Identify markets locally, regionally, and internationally where Namibian goods can be sold.
2. Place an immediate embargo on the seemingly uncontrolled influx of Chinese and other internationals who do not contribute to skills or job creation in the country.
3. Help establish small and medium enterprises by revising and updating current outdated by-laws and regulations rather than to suppress initiatives.
4. Have the Local authorities subsidize basic services like water and electricity for pensioners and those who prove that they cannot pay.

YOUTH

The Republican Party of Namibia acknowledges the severe youth unemployment crisis, with over 46% of young Namibians struggling to find jobs. This issue is further compounded by a lack of skills training and limited job opportunities, particularly in rural areas. We firmly believe that empowering Namibia's youth through targeted vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and substantial investment in industries such as agriculture, technology, and tourism is crucial. The party advocates for an overhaul of the education system to better equip young Namibians with practical skills, while encouraging government-private sector collaboration to create sustainable employment opportunities. Addressing youth unemployment is a national priority, and we stand committed to driving policies that ensure young Namibians are at the forefront of the nation’s economic growth and social development(Namibia Daily News)(Afrobarometer)(World Bank Blogs)(UNAM Repository).
